OK SO i took a break for a little bit from watching 9-1-1 because my mental energy while i was on winter break was trash and i could barely do anything, but i just picked it up again like yesterday

anyways, i got to 4x13 today. and whoa boy what a filled episode compared the upbeat funny treasure hunt that was 4x12. maddie’s struggles with PPD makes me want to sob. i know so well what that feeling of hopelessness feels like. the way your brain will make you believe the worst things about yourself. and bobby and athena’s spat over keeping each other out of the loop??? bobby has a point. marriage is a partnership, but at the same time, you don’t have to share everything with your partner. it’s a weird balance that’s different with every couple. i know they don’t divorce so i wonder what will give for them to reconcile.

also carla must’ve been surprised to not see buck when she reunited with the diazes this episode. like carla must’ve had to see the most outside of work interactions between buck and eddie. like buck introduced eddie to her. she said her iconic “follow your heart, not christopher’s” line too which!! aaaa!! like if that isn’t part of a set up to show how buddie was supposed to be canon in s4 after the shooting i don’t know what is.

the charlie subplot is wild. munchausen by proxy cases always are. i wonder what would have happened if eddie went with bobby and buck went up and connected with charlie instead? would buck have been the one that went in early, the one that charlie would’ve called, and eddie would have been in civvies? i know eddie must have been chosen because a) chris and his commonalities to charlie and b) parallels to his time in afghanistan and trigger for his season 5 mental breakdown and worsening mental health.

and 9-1-1 writers, you are vile for ending it like that. i knew what was happening. but oh my god the cinematography what the actual fuck. the silence after eddie gets hit. how you can see eddie slowly realize what happened. of him looking straight to buck before he falls. how we see buck freeze because the love of his life his beat friend got shot right in front of him and eddie’s blood splatter all over him. how eddie slowly fell to the ground. the close up of the bullet being loaded, of the rifle trigger being pressed. how buck and eddie keep looking at each other until mehta pushes buck down. and then how they keep looking at each other. and how eddie reaches for buck before closing his eyes.

anyways who cares my spring term starts tomorrow i need to watch the next episode. and maybe the one after that

also how much you want to be there’s some small sick parallel between the construction worker having a injured arm/shoulder and buck feeling like he could do something to save him (and protect the rest of his family team) and eddie being shot in the shoulder and buck thinking that he couldn’t save eddie because eddie was still shot and he froze
